Not really a book about turtles, I use the turtle analogy to cultivate that strong inner core, yet be able to expose one's soft belly for true connection with others. First released in 2005 as You get You: Turtle Wisdom - most people did not "get" it (my title that is), yet they would often yell at me across rooms, "Hey, turtle lady!" Once I headlined that piece, the message took off and is now being published internationally in 7 countries. The illustrations are delightful - 86 of them by Darcey DeMatte, a gifted artist whose specialty is caricature. I'll let you in on a secret, which is if you look at my photo, you will soon realize that several of the turtles strongly resemble me! My editor said she must have been working too many hours because she started seeing me in the drawings. I was kind enough to clear up the mystery.
