July Astrology Highlights –
“Dancing with the Stars”
By Janis Page c2010
My, my, it’s July, which means we are already halfway thru 2010. Amazing, isn’t it? The time acceleration continues, and we enter the second half of this year dancing between a pair of Cancerian eclipses. We spoke last month about the intense lunar eclipse of June 26th, involving the cardinal grand cross, and we’ll be feeling the effects of it for a while. Now, the Sun in Cancer will keep the focus on a sensitive, emotional level rather than a pragmatic one for the first weeks of July. It is the month for outgoing summer fun, yet also a time for some introspection, reflection, feeling and connecting.
Immediately following Independence Day, on July 5, Uranus, which just entered fiery Aries in late May, turns retrograde, heading back toward Pisces next month, where the giant planet of radical change and cosmic consciousness will remain for the rest of the year. Uranus activated signals a time for sudden shifts and changes – always expect the unexpected with Uranus. Take the retrograde period as an opportunity to plan how to put your recent innovative insights and ideas into effect.
The main challenge this month will concern the total solar eclipse at 19 degrees of Cancer on July 11. This new Moon is potent, as it brings together the Sun and the Moon into the Moon’s sign of Cancer. While the eclipse touches heavies Saturn and Hades on the 90 degree dial, calling for some seriousness, responsibility, and concerns about security and safety issues, this eclipse is considerably more “user-friendly” than the rallying cry of the radical lunar eclipse of last month. But eclipses are always powerful and signal the beginning of new cycles in life - often by “removing” what no longer serves you, though you might have some attachment to those things… this is especially so when they activate planets or angles in your chart. Also, eclipses essentially seed a minefield of potentiality, and can be activated by subsequent transits for months. So, now is the time to make changes in our lives in areas we may feel dissatisfied with, as the changes we make will most likely be beneficial for us.
We should be ready with ideas and motivation for those changes, as Mercury, the planet of mind and communications does a bit of a gymnastics routine in the several days leading into the solar eclipse. First, after also being the emotional sign of Cancer, where Mercury feels rather than thinks thoughts, right after a grounding sextile to Saturn, counterbalancing idealistic and prone to illusion Venus opposing Neptune, Mercury enters fiery creative Leo on Friday, July 9, and quickly makes an inspiring and creative trine to Uranus, then to expansive and inspiring (and excessive, ahem!) Jupiter just hours before the eclipse. That same weekend, on July 10, Venus enters practical Virgo, joining Mars in that earthy sign, bringing possible gentle sensuality as well motivation and the organization to accomplish basic tasks, and finding more fulfillment in doing so.
Another significant sign changes happens on July 21, when Saturn amplifies the intensity of the cardinal cross as it reenters Libra to stay in that sign till late 2012. This will call for rebalancing of relationships, for greater effort for understanding, cooperation, and responsibility and increased commitments.
The Sun moves into fiery, creative and attention getting (ok, demanding) Leo on July 22, then Jupiter turns retrograde in Aries on July 23, and it may seem that our momentum forward is slowed or impeded, and things that seemed well in progress may come to a full stop. However, Jupiter retrograde periods provide the opportunity to go to a deeper understanding, to find inner wisdom and knowledge. But Jupiter may also override common sense as it squares all or nothing Pluto on July 25. Don’t fall into the temptation to blustering over confidence! Jupiter and Pluto aspects can bring extreme success, but stay in alignment with universal energy to feel if you can indeed push the boundaries and expectations a bit. If you do overdo, the world will certainly let you know it. Don’t find yourself “karmatose” because of unwarranted feelings of exceptionalism and overconfidence.
The last week of July may provide that reality check (I hope yours doesn’t bounce!).
The full Moon in Aquarius on July 26 is sweetened and enhanced by a lucky trine between the Sun and Jupiter. Balance the neutrality and vision of Aquarius with the bold, creative lifeforce expression of Leo. This balance will help when Saturn in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries. When push comes to shove…. Then to up the ante, Mars moves into Libra to join Saturn and oppose Uranus in the final days of the month. That’s a bit like having one foot on the gas and the other on the brakes, and feeling quite impatient and impulsive about it all. This aspect can be quite agitated and accident prone, so please be careful on the road as well as at home. Stay cool and avoid confrontations and arguments. Mars-Uranus combinations can be exciting and innovative, but also potentially explosive or at least disruptive. Mars-Saturn aspects tend to be frustrating and impatient if you feel blocked, can bring up issues with power and authority, but also hold the potential of using the energy and the structure and discipline to get a lot done, effectively. Stay focused, flexible, maintain neutrality, and take on challenging tasks that require focus, discipline, and perseverance. And it always helps to remember not to take anything personally!
Stay aware, fluid and flexible, pay attention to the energy, not the seeming appearance of things. Keep your sense of humor as well as an open mind and open heart, stay in compassion and gratitude, and enjoy the summer! Peace and blessings to all.
About Janis:
Janis is extremely psychic and works with 5 Angelic Mentors as a spiritual counselor and practical mystic. She also does distance healing and clearing.
As a teacher, spiritual counselor and astrologer for several decades, my traditional astrological background includes dial and asteroid study with Martha Lang-Wescott, and beginning tutoring in Uranian astrology with Ruth Brummund. I have given presentations on the planetary archetypes and music at Don Campbell's Mystery School as part of his teaching staff, and also to ROMA (Rocky Mountain Astrologers), the Colorado Federation of Astrologers, and the Colorado Jung Society.
My non-traditional astrological explorations include studying Tibetan astrology at the Tibetan Institute of Medicine and Astrology (Men-Tsee-Khan) in Dharamsala, India, and receiving initiation and studying its astrologically related and derived Kalachakra Tantra. As part of my interest in experiential and manifested astrological applications, I have also learned to do the Sufi dervish spins and walks of the planets from Sufi teachers Wali Ali and Pir Shabda Kahn.
I have many years study and experiential work in Native American, Tibetan Buddhist, and Jungian studies and dream work, including many years study with several shamans from different traditional backgrounds and lineages. There I have studied healing, oracle, energy studies, psychic imagery, Peruvian toning, universal laws and principles, and more. Using a meditation technique I call "direct inquiry" I have engaged with archetypal energies of the elements, planets, stars, and even a black hole. They are not accustomed to being "invited to tea" and are most intriguing and gracious guests!
In addition to my love of "dancing with the archetypes" of the planetary beings, I take a practical mystic and compassionate intuitive approach to my astrology readings as a means of spiritual counseling. I see a chart as "the blueprint to the soul's growth", and humorously, as "the contract in your lifetime orientation packet", providing keys of understanding in how to integrate and balance Essence, ego and mind in one's life and path. I have done astrological readings for people on every continent except Africa ~ yes, even Antarctica... I also teach astrology classes in asteroids, the uranian transneptunians, and the 90 degree dial.
I love to travel, and have taken spiritual journeys to India, Peru, Australia, Japan, Venezuela, and Greece. My travels support my Essence recall, as I take a multicultural as well as multi- and interdimensional approach to my life and work.
