Crystals and Rituals to Deal with Grief, Part II

Crystals and Rituals to Deal with Grief Part II

by Eliza Marie Somers

As the United States continues to see the number of deaths from COVID-19 inch upward over 500,000, we continue the path of how to deal with grief using alternative methods to help soothe the pain.

Calling upon the angels to help us during times of turmoil goes back to Old Testament times. When you are experiencing grief call Archangel Azrael (OZ-ri-el). According to Doreen Virtue and Judith Lukomski in the book, “Crystal Therapy,” Archangel Azrael’s name means “Whom God Helps,” and that he heals grief and helps those who are consoling the bereaved.

Archangel Muriel is also great for helping you with rebalancing your emotions, according to Margaret Ann Lembo, who makes Smudge in Sprays (available at both locations, too).

In Part I of Crystals and Rituals to Deal with Grief, we stated some “odd” emotions that may appear after the death of a loved one.

Here are some crystals to deal with these feelings.

Brain Fog and Confusion: Fluorite is great for clarity. Celestite can be used to calm the chatter in the mind to regain focus. It is especially helpful when too many things are happening at once.

Anger, Blame, Despair: Apache Tears once again come to the rescue. According to Margret Ann Lembo in The Essential Guide to Crystals, Minerals and Stones.”

Apache Tears give you strength when you feel an array for dark emotions. It is also good at keeping negative thoughts at bay, and reminds you that you can turn to others for support.

Other crystals that can be used to help with these emotions include Rose Quartz and Morganite. The pink crystals can soothe you when you need comforting. Danburite is a great high vibrational stone that can calm the mind and reduce stress.

And don’t forget lovely Sunstone as it can help lift feelings of depression.

Fatigue, Sleep Problems: I like Howlite for sleep problems. The calming white stone is comforting, and I often hold a piece if I cannot sleep. Richard Simmons in “The Book of Stones.” likes Iolite and Lepidolite for sleep issues. Iolite for sleep issues is a pleasant surprise for me. It helps with meditation and eye issues, and helps calm a chattering mind.

Rituals are also good to help during times of grief. They help you memorialize the person and acknowledge your feelings. Tapping a picture or a special item of a loved one can help you connect with good memories of the person who has passed.

Remember to be compassionate with yourself. Grief is messy and releasing it with love and gratitude will help you when the tides of emotions come rushing upon you.
